For the second year in a row, Sullivan & Cromwell received the Chambers USA Awards for Excellence 2009 award for Corporate/M&A Team of the Year. The awards are based on the publisher's research for the newly released edition of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business 2009, in which considerable weight is given to client feedback as well as public information about the Firm's activities from mid-2007 through 2008.
S&C was also honored with the Silver Award for Best USA Law Firm - M&A Practice, at The International Legal Alliance Summit & Awards 2009 in Paris. The award ceremony was presented by Lawficom Editions, the French media group that publishes Decideurs, a leading French magazine specializing in strategy, finance and law.
These awards come on the heels of yet another year of top M&A rankings for S&C in 2008 and selection in April 2009 by The American Lawyer magazine as an M&A "Dealmaker of the Year" for advising InBev in its acquisition of Anheuser-Busch, the largest global and European M&A deal of 2008.

Sullivan & Cromwell maintained its strong record of success in global M&A in 2008, leading the global league table rankings compiled by Bloomberg, Dealogic and Thomson Reuters. In announced global M&A transactions, the Firm ranked #1 for its representations of both principals and financial advisors combined, according to all three data providers. S&C also ranked #1 in U.S. M&A (Bloomberg, mergermarket, Thomson Reuters) and Asian M&A excluding Japan (Thomson Reuters) for representations of principals and financial advisors combined in announced transactions. Rounding out the Firm's global breadth, S&C continues to be the #1 U.S. firm in European M&A for representations of principals and financial advisors combined for announced transactions (Bloomberg, mergermarket, Thomson Reuters) and completed transactions (Thomson Reuters). In 2008, S&C advised on the top two, and in five of the top ten deals announced worldwide.
