Paris
Established in 1927, the Paris office has outstanding cross-border and multi-jurisdictional capabilities, with 33 lawyers, both French- and U.S.-qualified, practicing principally in the areas of public and private M&A (including private equity), and equity and debt capital markets. Its practice also includes a significant French tax practice, as well as projects and litigation components. Lawyers joining the Paris office are assigned to either the General Practice/Corporate group or the Tax group, based on their interests. Our lawyers have the opportunity to work on an exceptionally wide range of sophisticated and high profile transactions, in a dynamic working environment, with a supportive and collegiate culture. We generally recruit at the entry level, but consideration is also given to applications from lawyers with prior professional experience.
Our French law practice has significantly developed over the past 10 years, and owes much of its success to the 5 prominent French partners currently resident in the
Paris office. Career prospects for French qualified lawyers are tremendous and will continue to be so in the coming years, as our office grows and continues to be involved in some of the largest and most noteworthy transactions in the French marketplace.
French-qualified lawyers
Applicants for French associate positions must have passed the CAPA exam. A U.S. LL.M. and/or degree from a Grande Ecole are also desirable but not required. We also recruit interns (
stagiaires) for three- to six-month periods throughout the year who are students in their last year of law school (Master 2), or who have finished law school and are enrolled in an EFB-type program.
For French-qualified lawyers completing an LL.M. in the United States, we regularly recruit candidates at the LL.M. job fairs. Incoming French lawyers with an LL.M. degree may be given the opportunity to work in our New York office for a period of time before joining the Paris office.
Reflecting our “one firm globally” approach, French qualified associates are paid the euro equivalent of same level associates’ salaries working in our U.S. offices.
French-trained lawyers should direct inquiries and their applications to the following address:

U.S.- and Canadian-qualified lawyers
We recruit U.S.- and Canadian-qualified lawyers with French language ability for the Paris office. These lawyers sometimes start in one of our U.S. offices before joining the Paris office, although there are also incoming associate positions in the Paris office. Summer Associates interested in the Paris office may also be given the opportunity to work in Paris for a portion of the summer.
Applicants for associate positions must be enrolled in or have successfully completed a U.S. J.D. or U.S. LL.M. program or Canadian equivalent.
The hiring of U.S.-trained lawyers for Paris is coordinated out of the New York office. For information about how to submit an application to work in the Paris office, please see
